The other morning a bird was sitting on my car. I'm pretty sure he was a Morning Dove, and expected him to fly away as I came closer with the camera.
But he didn't. He stayed on my car until I waved my arms and literally shooed him away. That was weird.
The next day I went out to the shed to get something and heard a deer crashing about in the blueberry thickets. That wasn't so odd, but then he came out of the bushes.....
...and stared me down! The deer around here have been pushed into yards like ours by all the development in the area. I don't mind a few quiet deer that stay hidden from us powerful humans, but this year they are getting way too bold. You can see the intense look this one gave me; I swear he was telling me to get off his land!
Yesterday we came home to find this beautiful buck under the apple trees. Like the other animals, he refused to budge, giving Paul ample time to take this photo as he stood up in the sunroof. It was only when we actually got out of the car and hollered at him that he bounded away.
This bold animal behavior is getting kind of scary.
There's a woodchuck under the shed that I suspect is the one eating all my flowers, but at least he has still remembers that we are the boss and has the grace to run away when he spots us.
