School is out on June 3 and since all bills for lost books have to be paid before report cards are issued, we start calling in the books in mid-May.
As much as I love the prospect of the summer off, I don't like it when all the books start coming back to the library. Books shouldn't be on school library shelves; they should be out to kids who are reading them. It's sad to see books start to fill shelves which are normally empty.
I mean, since when have I see any Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, much less all of these?
Or the Twilight series?
Or the The Clique series?
Not to mention that finding room for all these books is a challenge.
No, I vastly prefer the first of the year, when the students eagerly snatch up books to read, and the shelves begin emptying again.
