For Mother's Day, I asked Ben & Paul to help me build some 4'x4' raised beds so I could do some square foot gardening this year. My sweet husband rose to the challenge of designing and leading the project, and the three of us tackled a couple of boxes today.
Version 1.0 wasn't totally successful, coming apart when we actually put it in the garden and filled it with dirt. Back to the drawing board!
Version 2.0 was very successful. It's quite sturdy and won't have any trouble staying together once it's full.
I'm quite pleased, and have visions of boxes filled with flowers and a few vegetables and herbs.
Although it was Saturday, our construction project continued as the crew made up for some days of rain. The siding was put up on the portico and looks quite nice, I think.
The crew replicated the trim that is on the existing peak, so the echoing of the two elements is quite pronounced. I love it and think it looks exactly right.
And the front porch got new columns, making it all ready for screening next week. We're moving right along!
