I have a confession to make. I don't like spring.
Yes, it is beautiful, I admit that. But along with the lovely greening grass, the blooming azaleas, and the milder weather comes
longer days
meaning shorter nights, meaning less sleep
allergies
meaning sneezing and irritated eyes
lovely warmer weather
meaning children who rightfully want to play, play, play outside
rather than do inside things like homework, music practice, and chores
and
the last four weeks of school
the most event-filled and work-filled weeks of the year
meaning shorter nights, meaning less sleep
allergies
meaning sneezing and irritated eyes
lovely warmer weather
meaning children who rightfully want to play, play, play outside
rather than do inside things like homework, music practice, and chores
and
the last four weeks of school
the most event-filled and work-filled weeks of the year
No, despite its beauty, spring is no friend of mine.
When I used to work at the Library of Congress, I just pretended spring didn't exist, except on the weekends when I had time to enjoy it. Now that I'm on a school schedule, with shorter work days, I find that I can't ignore it, but I'm still too busy to take much joy in it.
But summer! Ah, summer. That's another story! No work, no school, and lots of lovely time.
Summer will be here before we know it, but first, we have to get through spring.
