Ben & I checked into the Hotel Tabard Inn downtown near Dupont Circle yesterday afternoon for a brief stay. Every year we have a special holiday dinner with Ben's brother, John, and his wife, Dawn. This year we decided to dine at the Tabard Inn restaurant, stay overnight at the hotel, and have brunch the next morning.
What a treat! It was so great to have so much time to visit with John and Dawn, without the interruptions and noise of our children. (Paul was in his own heaven, an equally long time visiting with two of his friends, without the interruptions and noise of his parents!
Over brunch this morning the men did a bit of business, signing papers related to settlement of their step-father's estate. This settlement has taken way too long, so the momentous occasion of signing the agreement warranted smiles all around.
Our time together was over too soon. Hopefully, we can do it again next year.
