The painters finished staining the porch over the weekend, leaving it beautifully ready for the official beginning of spring. I'm so pleased with how it turned out!
Here's some "before" and "after" photos:
While the staining was underway and the steps in and out of the house were wet, Paul had a great time using an alternative method of getting in and out, climbing through the window! Good thing he had such a great weekend, because now the poor kid has the mumps and feels miserable.
The patio was also spruced up for the new season, with the new lounge chairs on one side and the teak table and bench on the other side. I got the lounges from Target and they are so comfortable for napping and reading.
I also replanted the pots with some pretty spring flowers.
Once all this was done, as if on cue, two more fish came out of hibernation as well as a big frog. We sat by the pond last night and listened in fascination as the frog puffed out his throat and sang his mating song, only to have it answered by a frog on the other side of the water. He then swam around for awhile looking for his new lady love and I guess he found her because he was gone for a while and then came back. I sure hope he did his duty and that we'll have tadpoles soon!
