The strong winds we've had the past few days died down yesterday morning, which was a relief since we had tickets to take a boat ride around the Annapolis harbor last night with Paul's friend, Adam. It turned out to be a lovely, calm, evening, just right for being on the water if you bundled up and fortified yourself with hot chocolate.
The Miss Anne, rechristened the Jolly Express for the holidays, tooled up Spa Creek where we admired the lovely big homes by the water and enjoyed the boats decked out in Christmas lights.
The town was surprisingly peaceful, with just a gentle buzz of activity, so different from the wild nights in the summer. We quite enjoyed it.
Today we are heading way out to Gainsville, Virginia, to visit Ben's brother, Jeff. Then we're looking forward to a cozy Christmas Eve at home, admiring our tree and eating the french cassoulet that Ben has been making the past few days. Paul is already lobbying to open "just one" present tonight. We'll see!
