We're looking forward to a less structured weekend than most. Paul is playing his flute in a Solo Festival this evening, for which he has been practicing for weeks. We're so impressed with his hard work that we've made definite plans to go as a family outing to see the movie Impossible tomorrow afternoon. It's about how a family survives the tsunami of 2004, and we all wanted to see it after watching the trailers. But wanting isn't the same thing as doing, so we're making definite plans. Then there's a trivia game Saturday, with tutoring, karate, and flute lessons squeezed in here and there throughout the weekend.
I'm finally finished Wildwood by Colin Meloy and rewarded myself by starting a young adult book rather than the children's books that I read for school. I say "finally" not because Wildwood isn't a good book --it is - but because it's a genre --fantasy--which isn't my favorite. But every now and again one has to make the effort to read something different, and especially I do since so many of my students love fantasy. Now that I've done my duty, I'm for looking forward to listening to more of John Green's book The Fault in Our Stars, which I got on audible.com the other day and started last night. Kate Rudd's reading is so good, and what a story! Can't wait to hear more. I'll have my hankies ready, since I already know it's a tear-jerker.
