The big event of the day was weather-dependent; taking a Lucky Catch cruise to learn more about lobstering and to see some seals. It was grey when we set out, but otherwise the weather was fine. This was a hands-on experience so everyone suited up and helped bait the traps and measure the catch.
We pulled up about six traps, finding about four "keepers," a few crabs, and lots of baby or young lobsters. These were put on the cage tops so we could watch them crawl off the edge and fall back in the water.
Tommy was quite stoic about the smell of the fish as he baited the traps.
Here are the boys patiently smiling for Mom while they wait for the signal to push the trap overboard.
We also got to see many harbor seals who were hanging out on a rock ledge on our route. Most of them were sleeping but a few were playing with each other which was fun to watch.
After the cruise I thought for sure it would start raining, but it held off so Ben and I could walk to drinks and dinner while the kids watched movies via Amazon Prime Instant Video back at the hotel.
Our first stop was at Eventide Oyster Company where we had appetizers and a drink before dinner. It was a cool place and I felt so hip to be there!
Then we walked over to Ribollita, a small Italian restaurant for dinner, which was delicious. It was a cozy, intimate place, the pleasing opposite of hip.
When we emerged from this wonderful world of food we found the streets becoming foggy, which was quite beautiful.
what a trip! The colors of the sky are magnificent and the pics are terrific.
