I could have made plans to go downtown to see an exhibit or to Annapolis to shop or even just out to the nursery to buy some chrysanthemums, but I resisted the temptation to make definite plans, preferring the leave the day open and see what happens. It's such a rare treat to have unstructured time.
So far what's happened is that I picked up the living room and kitchen and then settled in to watch last night's Nashville season opener, happily zapping through the commercials. Then I went outside and cut back all the fading peonies along the drive and did some other pruning until the tarp was full and I hauled it off to dump the prunings in the woods.
It is a beautiful day and after that hard work the porch is beckoning. I think I'll have a late breakfast out here and listen to the birds for a while.
