I gave three boxes of Halloween decor away in preparation for the move so we didn't have much to put out. We didn't carve any pumpkins this year, but we did hang these cheerful lights, which I've really been enjoying.
When we went over to Tommy and Alex's house to meet up for trick or treating, we admired their spooky decorations which included this couple sitting on the porch swing.
Paul took the minimalist approach this year, making fangs from a plastic fork to become a vampire and adding cool green glasses from Dave & Buster's. I was happy to let him take charge and thought he looked pretty hip for a vampire.
It was weird weather; hot and humid with occasional wind and rain. Very few kids were actually out, maybe because the weather was so iffy. In any case, the boys were often given extra candy, so they had quite a bit at night's end.
Let the trading begin! Can you spot the giant Hershey's bar? They each got one, from the best house on the route.
This is about the fourth or fifth year the boys have done Halloween together, and it is the last, not only because Paul is moving but because they are growing up and out of the candy hunt. It's beginning to dawn on them that they can just take the money they save or receive as presents and buy their own candy. It will be interesting to see what next year brings.
