Hello October!

And now it's October.  We awoke to a cold rainy morning which turned into a chilly rainy day.  Rain is almost always good to see in these parts and this slow and steady one was especially welcome after the dryness of the past month.  The puppy  wondered at it when I took him out at 7:00 for his morning bathroom outing and he found it hard to focus at the task at hand.

The news reported a 20 degree drop in temperature overnight and I believed it.  We had hamburgers on the grill on Sunday night with a full table set out on the patio to enjoy the evening with some family and friends.  Now we were closing the windows and hunting up our fleece jackets and leather boots.

Well, the indoor life has its charms as well.  As the rain continued through the morning Ben and I cancelled the leaf-viewing car drive into the mountains that we had planned for the afternoon.  After a few morning commitments we settled in for some quiet time. I spent much of the afternoon sewing a Christmas wall hanging I'll give as a holiday gift and played with Turbo while Ben did some reading.  In the evening we went out with a friend to a quiet and cozy bar.

By tomorrow the rain should be gone but the temperatures aren't expected to climb again.  We appear to be firmly into autumn now.
