Half-Birthday surprises

This cute balloon and red wrapped gift arrived today at school, much to my surprise. The birthdays of school staff are honored by "Birthday Angels" who deliver nice treats on the big day. Since my birthday is in August, my half-birthday was celebrated today. It was a fun surprise!


And wrapped in the red cellophane was a fabulous homemade German Chocolate cake -- my favorite. The tradition is to take a slice and then set the cake in the staff lounge for everyone to enjoy. I was glad of that, for one big slice about did me in!


And, back at home, a real working sink was being installed as a temporary measure to hold us while the new counter tops are made during this next week. That means we can stand up when we wash the dishes, instead of hunching over the bathroom sink. Really, it's just too much excitement for one day!
