The peonies are about to pop open. You can always tell the time is near when the tiny black ants show up. Attracted to the nectar in the tight buds, they appear out of nowhere and have their own little peony party until the buds open and then they just disappear.
Today Paul noticed that the ants had some company, the first lady bug we've seen this season.
