Worm Snake Heaven

Apparently our garden must be a heaven for Worm Snakes. The past couple of days Paul has been able to quickly find one or more under the flat stepping stones. We're getting accustomed to him picking them up and putting them in a small dirt-filled glass bowl for a day or so and then letting them go, only to easily find them later. Today's Worm Snake hunt had a surprise ending, however. It started off as usual:

But this time Paul announced that it's cloudy blue eyes meant that it was about to shed it's skin. Sure enough, a close look showed that it's skin was beginning to peel. You can see it here:



Just as I was about to say "Don't hurt the snake!" Paul had helped the snake get that skin off and was holding it out in his hand, saying "Don't hurt the skin, it's fragile!"
