Feeling Good

I am feeling SO GOOD about the project that I have well underway in my school library. I've been wanting to get all the paperback books interfiled with the hardback books so everyone doesn't have to look two places to find a book, and I've done it! Look closely at the photo and you'll see the paperbacks sitting nicely next to the hardbacks. Such progress.....sigh.



The old system had them on different shelves but the catalog record didn't tell you that and the poor kids frequently thought we didn't have a book when we did. Of course I put up signs trying to explain this and spoke up whenever it looked like someone was confused, but this new way will be so much better. The drawback is that it takes more space. To get that space I had to weed out unused and damaged books, a painful and time consuming task which is still underway. Meanwhile, look how I'm managing to fit all the remaining books so neatly on the shelves! Okay, okay, I know only librarians get excited about this stuff........

But I'm feeling good about it.
