Two Quick Trips

On Monday Paul and I drove Bryan up to his home in Lititz, Pennsylvania. It's neat little town and I love to visit it. Bryan's family is pretty neat too and also fun to visit. We had a great time eating one of the yummy grilled dinners that Bryan's Dad is known for, playing board games, eating pizza at a Main Street pizzeria, playing miniature golf at High Sports, Inc. (surely one of the prettiest courses around) and just enjoying being with Bryan's family. (That's not me and Ben in this photo; we just wish we were that slim! I got it from the Visit Pa web site )

Yesterday Paul and I left for a quick trip to Rehoboth Beach to get his birthday present, hermit crabs. We both took friends along for company. We had a fabulous afternoon at the beach -- cloudless skies, warm but not hot temperature, and just-right waves. Good thing, because this morning we woke up to drizzle, a stiff breeze, and a "no swimming" sign on the beach. So we opted to hit the arcade instead, where we almost (darn!) won the big prize (500 tickets) at the Ms. Pacman coin game. Paul did get 24 Tootsie Rolls, which was okay with him. Then we were off to the Sea Shore Shop for the Main Event, the selecting and purchasing of hermit crabs. Everyone got some, but birthday boy Paul got ten, a real colony. The sales person said it was the most she had ever sold at one time! Paul picked out assorted items to decorate the "Crabitat" waiting at home, a ten gallon tank now outfitted with sand, shells, food, water, and wire and sticks to climb. Once home early this evening the colony scrambled around for a while and even climbed the stick and wire before settling down for a rest. That's crab "Paul" in the first photo. The others are all named for boy Paul's friends and "Ben" and "Mary." I feel so honored.
