Rushing the Season

September was a long, hard month and I was glad to see it go. We had a blissfully beautiful fall day, cool and clean, and so welcome after all the heat and humidity of much of September, and then rain and storms of the last few days.

It was a bit early to be putting up Halloween decorations, but last year we had waited too long and then were thwarted by constant rain, right up until the day of Paul's Halloween party, so we wanted to get them up early this year. I had decided to let Paul do the decorating, so I assumed the "helper" role and did whatever he asked me as he uncovered all his favorite spooky decorations and decided what to do with them.

Martha Stewart it isn't, but he had a good time and, most importantly, I didn't have to do it all. Given that reality, I was happy to give up control. I did decorate the mantel myself; still not Martha but pleasing to me nonetheless.
