Paul and I enjoyed the local fireworks last night, though we mostly saw them through the eye of our iPod cameras, which we are learning to use. This one was taken with my new iPhone 4; not bad for a quick shot. Paul says that he took "230" photos on his iTouch. He may have, as he just kept clicking away.
After the fireworks we went to my Mom's house and stayed the night since her caregiver was away for the holiday.
When we got home later this morning, a crew from Knee Deep Ponds was here getting starting on our new pond. We had expected them tomorrow, so we were pleasantly surprised.
The pond is going in to the right of the new portico.....
...in this area next to the flagstone walkway/patio. Most everything green that you see here will be gone, except for the tulip magnolia, which is hard to spot in the crowded landscape.
When we pulled up this morning, the fellows had removed all that vegetation and were starting to dig up the corner of the driveway that is being removed.
You can see how they made a nice curve as they cut out the driveway.
Here they are, taking a thinking/designing break. After seeing the site, they suggested changing the plans somewhat so that instead of having a stone walkway back to the recycle and trash bins go across a narrow portion of the pond, there will be a wooden bridge spanning the full width of the pond.
Something like the photo below, which is from their web site.
Paul's friend, Adam, is here for a few days, and the boys are enjoying all this excitement. Nothing like seeing a "ten foot hole" being dug!
