An Exciting Day at School

This was the scene in the hall outside the library this afternoon as school ended; large groups of kids eagerly checking out which seats they had been assigned in which band for the next semester. Auditions had been held earlier this week, and there were whoops of joy from some students and sad faces on some others as they read the results. I've come to learn over the past few years that the band/chair assignments are a very big deal in a school where band is treated as a core subject. All the students play in at least one band, and a few play in three. There are a total of five bands, with each meeting once a week at 7:45 am. In addition, each student also goes to band/music classes four times a week, so music is a very important element of our school.

Paul was extremely happy to find that he had been moved up two chairs, putting him in the 1st flute section, 4th chair.

You go, boy!
