Jig-Away!

It's been unseasonably warm here this past week. Our heavy coats are hanging in the closet, snow boats are who knows where, and gloves and mittens are buried in our backpacks and purses.

Instead of snow we've had rain, and the combination of the warm temperatures and the rain led the school to postpone its annual ski trip.

It still isn't spring, though, and we spend most of our free time inside rather than out. It's a good time for a big project like redecorating the craft room --which is moving ahead nicely -- and also for doing jigsaw puzzles. Our friends lent us their card table and chairs as well as an actual puzzle, and we've been enjoying working on it in odd moments.

Since we sometimes want to use the table for other purposes, my sister recommended that we buy a jig board, a board that allows you to easily pick up and move your puzzle. We found this great one at Jigthings. Not only can we move the puzzle, but it we have a nicely textured and firm backing for laying out the pieces, complete with a raised lip to keep them from falling off the table.

Paul is quite good at spotting shapes, I rely on the picture, and Ben seems to use both techniques. The guys made a lot of progress since this photo was taken. While I was out yesterday they completed the border and got a good start on some of the interior sections.

As Paul says, "Jig-away!"
