December 5: On the Camera

I was out of commission on Sunday, feeling lethargic and stuffed up, and am still a bit wrung out today.  So it's a good day to go through the camera roll and see what we have.

This one is from Saturday night, which was a first visit to a new restaurant in the nearby town of Lyons, where the fun and lively Latino atmosphere put us all in a good mood.  We were too busy having fun but I did snap this photo as we left.

Monday we delivered for Meals on Wheels and I was struck with what is considered a "portion size."  That's two thin slices of pork with some spinach on the larger left side and veggies and potatoes on the right.  Along with a small salad and a piece of fruit or cake, that's your hot meal for the day.  That, Miss Mary, is a correctly sized meal!  Remember that this holiday season and you might enter the new year without any extra weight!

Got an hour of stitching in yesterday and snapped this pic to prove to myself that no, I do not need to buy anymore thread of this luscious color of orange!

The following three photos either show 1) the affect of our high winds this morning, or 2) the aftermath of critters messing around in our garbage pails and patio.

I suspect #2, as the trash bags had been dragged out of the cans and the contents strewed about.  Quite the mess to clean up!  The bears are in hibernation now, I believe, but just last week I saw a huge raccoon scurrying around downtown so maybe it was raccoons.  In any case, they didn't find much to eat because there was hardly any food in the trash or recycle bin, most of it going into compost instead.  Hmm... wonder why they didn't get the compost pail open?  It's a mystery.  Though it might explain why Turbo went ballistic last night when I took him out for his regular 10:00 potty run.  He ran around like a crazy dog sniffing out near the driveway.

News Flash!!  I just got a text from my neighbor saying there is a bear in the neighborhood and that it crossed into my yard!

Well, it is out of my yard now and apparently is in the cemetery next to the school.  The school is on lockdown; no lunchtime recess today.  So much for the bears all being in hibernation now.

Well, I'm going to go see if I can spot the bear myself.  But did you think I was going to leave you with photos of trash cans as your last impression from today's blog? No, indeed. How about something pretty instead?  Coming out of the gym the other day I was struck by how festive these lovely poinsettias looked.  It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
