About Those Toads

As I mentioned, we have at least three toads in our pond now. Two of them seem to like Paul quite a lot.

You might think that he is grasping these toads to keep them from hopping away.


But no; when he tries to put them down they cling to his finger....

...and don't want to let go.

Go on, now little Toad!

Only when Paul literally puts them in the water will they swim away. Even then, they are mighty nice about letting him catch them again.

It seems that we may soon have many more toads. These black strands of beads are really toad eggs! And there's masses of them in the pond plants. Our toads have been busy making baby toads!
