Day 11
When I was singing professionally in the Methodist Church I used to love Advent, the gradual building up of wonder and excitement in the four weeks before Christmas. Since Paul was born we've marked off the days of Advent by using various calendars, which we've always enjoyed. But this year we hit the jackpot when we ordered two online digital Advent calendars from the Jacquie Lawson web site. One features London scenery and activities while the other brings an alpine village to life as you click on different links each day.
As the days unfold I've grown to anticipate the short ritual of sitting with Paul and opening up the file for the new day. There's always peaceful music, lovely artwork, cute animations, and, often, fun actitivites --make a stocking; design a snowman-- to do together. Regardless of what Paul might think, he has every possession he needs. What he and we need is a few more peaceful moments together each day, and I love how these calendars are making that happen for us during this busy season.
