It snowed every day that we had been in Utah, and it was wonderful for us snow-deprived Marylanders to see the mountains and pines with their white coverings.
When Jean and I arrived in the Baltimore airport last night we heard people talking about the possibility of snow, and sure enough, snow moved into the area overnight and we awoke to a pretty white landscape. It's still snowing now and we are enjoying a leisurely morning since the school has called a two-hour delay. Paul wonders why we are having any school at all; why can't kids get the day off to enjoy playing in the long-awaited snow?
Meanwhile, I see that Boulder had ten inches over the weekend and that school is still on for today. It will be interesting to move to a place where snow is so commonplace.
Here's the view from our window this morning.
The last basketball game was a grand treat: a knock-down match between Gonzaga and Wichita. On Thursday we had seen Wichita play Pittsburgh so poorly and had seen Gonzaga play Southern so well, so naturally we expected Gonzaga to come out and beat the pants off of Wichita. But no, Witchita had apparently gotten some sleep, eaten its Wheaties, or gotten over its nerves. The two teams came out and the battle was on. It was such an exciting game and I think my throat is still a bit raw from screaming every time Wichita made a score! Both teams played so well that I was kind of sad when Gonzaga lost since it meant they wouldn't be playing again.
It was neat to come home and talk to people who had seen the game on TV and realize that they had seen televised what I had seen live.
I'm looking forward to seeing how Wichita does next weekend. Which team will come out on the court; the one who played so badly their first game in Utah or the one who played so well their last game? I'm waiting in suspense!
