October 20: Home Improvement

This week we had new sliding doors installed off the downstairs patio from the dining room and the two balconies off the upstairs master bedroom.  The old doors French doors were thirty old years old and needed replacing, and we were eager to gain the space that the "swing" of the French doors required.  With the sliders we have more space for our dining room table and our bedroom seems much larger.  In addition, access to one of the balconies had been impeded by the bed, making it hard to get to, especially at night since the door swung open right next to Ben's side of the bed.  I loved going out there at night to see the wonderful display of stars, but didn't do it much since it was so hard to maneuver.

So we were excited to see the new installation!

Old doors upstairs showing the space-taking "swing."

The installation took two days.

The completed doors on the west facing balcony.  The trim work hasn't been finished in this photo.

And on the south facing balcony.  Again, no trim completed in this photo either.

We still need to choose new window coverings, but that's a project for another day.  Can't do everything at once!
