January 24: “They Just Keep Jumping!”

Yesterday’s  two hour whale watch with Trilogy Excursions was amazing, with whales popping out of the water everywhere!  The boat had a remarkable tour in the morning and couldn’t believe it when it happened again in the afternoon.   They were so excited about the success of the trip that they even passed around a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate.

As soon as the boat motored out into the channel, we begin to see the whales. The first sighting was a mom and her baby, or at least that’s what the crew said. They were swimming to the side of us but I wouldn’t know that one was a female or one was a baby.  As they moved away whales begin popping up here and there and kept our heads quite busy swerving and turning to see them. 

When it was time for the boat to turn around there were at least three whales close by that were jumping  over and over again in front and to the side of us.  You literally cannot watch them all at once!

It was quite exciting! What made it even more satisfying was that Dawn and I thought that the tour might be canceled due to the high winds and rough seas we had yesterday.

 I knew from experience that we were working with a great company and I trusted them to make the right decision. Their Plan B was to move the boat to a different part of the shore where it would be easier to load their customers. It worked great and big smiles all around when we got on board and the tour got underway.
