Talented Mark from Truly Custom Kitchens has been back this week, working through the kitchen rehab "punch list." Today he finished the sink wall back splash, so it's time to celebrate with an "after" picture.
Which can only be appreciated by comparing it to the "before" picture.
Isn't it an amazing change? Look closely at the wall to the left of the dishwasher and you can see how it got "padded out" so it is now flush with the dishwasher. The old wall, which covered an old brick chimney from an old furnace, is now covered by the new wall, giving us not only a cleaner line but a drywall onto which outlets, light switches and the thermostat could be placed. One thing you can't see in the "before" photo is that the sink wall "counter top" was multilevel, since the sink had a built in drainboard with a rim around it. The new sink is under mounted so the new counter top is all one level. This gave us the space to set our much-loved and much-used latte maker conveniently next to the sink.
Little details like that mean a lot in a small space. It took so much planning to think through all these details, and I'm so thankful that we had such great help from our contractor and his designer.
Here's a closeup of the new sink, faucet, and back splash.
This photo reflects a myriad of decisions, including the type and size of the sink, the texture and color of the tiles, the pattern made with the tile, the height of the faucet, the color of the different parts of the faucet, and whether we wanted a built in soap dispenser. I love the little glass tiles and the tile outlet covers.
I'm so glad we're done making such decisions and that it all turned out so well!
