The wonderful man who renovated our kitchen, Mark, made his final visit a week or so ago. The renovation was not only for the kitchen but also for the adjacent entryway/mud room. Mark put down a new floor in this room and replaced all the cabinets and counter tops. This is a hard working little room serves as the main entry into the house as well as the dumping ground and storage area for our work and school bags, shoes, hats, etc. The room can be closed off from the rest of the house while staying connected to a dog door to the outside, so it is the ideal area for confining pets. We wanted it to be very serviceable and pretty and chose durable stone tile and counter tops and beautiful white cabinets the same style as those in the kitchen. Here's how it turned out:
To best appreciate it, you must compare it with this "before" photograph:
Those are tile samples leaning against the wall beneath the white shelf under the mirror. It used to just hang there without anything below it, and I love how it looks now with the new cabinet under it.
Mark also installed the dishwasher (yippee!) and finished the new kitchen window with a beautiful deep windowsill. We love looking out this window, even during a week of rain like we're having now.
