Sisterhood!

I spend the past two days enjoying a little "get-away" in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, with my sister Jean. It was wonderful to have the chance to catch up and we spent a lot of time just chatting and relaxing. We stayed at the historic Country Inn, which we liked very much.

We had soothing massages and got our toes all ready for spring; don't mine look cute?

We walked around the town looking for the "Yard Square Quilts" which were made by members of the Delectable Quilt Guild and are being auctioned as a fundraiser for a local agency which helps domestic abuser survivors. These 36" square quilts are hung in the various town businesses while the auction takes place online at http://www.delectablemountainsquiltguild.org/yard_square_quilts.htm (Be sure to double-click on the quilts so you can enlarge them.) Last year Jean bid on and won one of quilts, which was pretty exciting.

We also attended the opening reception of the Guild's annual quilt show. We met a few of the creators of the Yard Square Quilts there and it was really fun to talk with them about their quilts.

Berkeley Springs is a charming town and fun to explore. I was especially delighted with the small movie theater which featured current films for only $3.75 a ticket. And instead of a marque they announced their films by handwriting the title and description on a poster board!
