Taking a Risk
We spent a couple of days in Ocean City this week visiting my friend from school who has a condo there. I had never stayed with this friend and her condo is in one of those tall high rises that line the ocean in O.C., and I've never stayed in one of those either. Trying new things is always a bit of a risk, but we had a great time. Paul and his friend had fun fighting the waves, bobbing in the water for hours, and finding all sorts of neat treasures in the pools and sand to take home. My friend and I had fun eating yummy food, drinking cool summery drinks, reading, and just chatting. I learned that high rise condo buildings in O.C. frequently have great amenities, like indoor and outdoor pools, game rooms, convenient shopping, and big pool/ocean decks with tiki bars and snack bars.
Driving across the Bay Bridge is always a risk for me. I'm not so phobic that I can't do it, but it takes a lot out of me. Going eastbound I was routed onto the westbound bridge, driving in the far right lane facing the oncoming two left lanes, a first for me. Paul and his friend were supposed to divert me with stories, and they did a pretty good job for about half the way across the bridge. Then they ran out of steam so I had to help myself by telling them a good tale. Going home, I didn't hit the bridge until about 9:00, so I drove across in the dark, another first. My passengers were both asleep and I stuck to the middle lane and talked to myself all the way across. Driving across this huge bridge isn't one of my favorite things, but going to the beach sure is, and you can't have one without the other around here!

That is so funny - about driving over the Bay Bridge. The first time I had to drive on the wrong side like that I was very concerned. Recently I drove a friend across - it was her first time on the bridge- and she was crying, she was so scared. That bridge gets the best of us!
