Having finished the entry room, I've now turned my attention to Paul's bedroom. Fifteen years ago, when it was a TV watching room and general hang-out, we painted it yellow. It was high time to re-paint it and since it is now Paul's room, he picked out a beautiful grass green color. It requires a special gray primer, so that means putting on three coats of paint. Here's a swatch. Do you see the face that the gray paint makes? If not, you're clearly not an imaginative ten-year old!
Here's that detail in perspective. Since thinking about the entire project was way too daunting, I'm using the "swiss cheese" approach and started with just one section, a little cubby holding an old kitchen cabinet that Paul claimed for his own when we redid the kitchen.
We'd had the hermit crab habitat on top of the cabinet, but moved them over to a book case near Paul's bed so he could be closer to them during their nocturnal frolicking. We then topped the cabinet with a nine-cubicle storage unit from Closetmaid and added the green baskets.
Paul is quite tickled with how his room is turning out. We're taking a rest for a few days before tackling another section of the room. We'll make it, one wall at a time, and just in time for me to head back to work next week. We've had a lot of fun and got a lot of work done in the house this summer, but school is just about to start again!
