As much as I'm glad to see the colder weather heading our way -- a 20 degree drop in temperature is predicted for tomorrow night; Yippe!-- I am a bit worried about Goldie and Jeremiah, the two Comet Goldfish that live in the little pond we set up this Spring. Their pond isn't quite big enough to keep them comfy warm all winter, but I can't see how they'd like to be moved to an indoor aquarium after being in their nifty little pond all summer. And where I'd put their aquarium I have no idea.
We already have one in Paul's room along with the Crab-itat, as well as a smaller aquarium downstairs for the underwater frog that has lived longer than I ever dreamed possible. Honestly, I could lose him in an instant and not grieve.
But it's a different matter with Goldie and Jeremiah. There's really no room for them in the Inn, so to speak, but they may freeze if we leave them outside and that would be heartbreaking.
What to do...what to do? I am fretting, which is very unlike me, and over fish at that! It's because these particular fish are really quite nice. They are so pretty and they come up to the surface to be fed and have little personalities, and I'd really hate to lose them. Not a great state of mind to have with fish, IMHO! I prefer to keep more distance between me and my fish and frogs and heaven knows whatever little creatures Paul ends up with apart from Fetcher, of course, who isn't a creature but a real cat.
If we have a regular, i.e., hot, winter they should be okay. But if we get hit with the two-foot snowstorms we had last winter, they'll be goers for sure.
These are the things that occupy my mind these days and keep me from thinking about more serious questions, like who should I vote for in the election for Governor on Nov. 2, and how horrible the foreclosure crises is. Now that I think of it, maybe that's one reason why I like little Goldie and Jeremiah so much.
