It was Pajama Day at school today and all the Middle School kids wore their p.j.s all day. It was a crazy scene. Many teachers wore bathrobes or at least sweats, and lots of kids brought their teddy bears and other stuffed animals. I especially enjoyed seeing all the neat slippers.
It also was the day of the Halloween costume parade for the PreSchool kids. At 9:15 all the Middle School classes stopped, the kids poured out into the halls, and everyone "ooo-ed" and "aawed" as we watched the little ones parade through the school in their cute outfits.
Another crazy thing was that I was called in to sub for a 7th grade pre-algebra class at the last minute. I'm hardly ever called in to sub, so I knew I must really be needed. Still, I gulped when I heard it was for math, never my strength. But they were a great group of kids and since I didn't have a clue of what I was doing I asked who was getting an A and sent them up to the boards to do the example problems noted in the lesson plan. After a while I caught on to what we were doing, but decided to play it safe and enlisted volunteers from the kids who had "got it" to help those who hadn't "got it." By the end of the class everyone had done all or a lot of the problems correctly, including me, so I felt that I had, in fact, met the lesson objective.
In addition to all of this, everyone was excited all day since we are beginning our Fall break. It's short, just two days, but everyone was happy in anticipation of the nice long four-day weekend ahead of us.
