We visited Ben's Mom, Suzanne, in the nursing home yesterday and I was glad to see that she had a Christmas angel propped up on her bedpost. She always did love angels, and even though this one didn't have a trumpet (her favorite type of angel), it was a happy reminder of how much Suzanne used to enjoy the holidays.
Ben's brother, Jeff, spent Christmas Eve with us, which made the evening extra festive. Since Paul was leaving Christmas morning to go to Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg with his buddies from Pennsylvania, we decided to go ahead and open presents. It was an "Apple" Christmas, with a new MacBook Air for Ben, an Apple TV (a streaming device the size of a deck of cards), and two iTouches, one for Paul and one for me. There were smiles all around!
This morning after breakfast with Jeff, our Pennsylvania friends came down for a quick visit over lunch and then off they went to have fun at Great Wolf, taking Paul with him for a couple of days.
What will we do in all this sudden quiet? We'll start with a few hours of relaxing in front of the fire enjoying our new toys, maybe sneak in a nap, and then head over to my Mom's for Christmas dinner with my sister and her daughter's family. It's shaping up to be a perfect Christmas.
Wishing you the very best holiday, filled with friendship, love, laughter, and, of course, good food!
