Ice!

Freezing rain fell throughout the night, and we awoke to an world glazed with sparkling ice. A dangerous world, as I well knew, having taken a bad fall last week on the black ice that preceded our little snowfall. Schools are canceled for the day and even the Federal government had a two-hour delayed arrival.

This is our fourth day off of our regular schedule, what with the long holiday weekend we just enjoyed. I could get used to this slower pace. Instead of gym at 6:00 and school at 8:15 , we've lazed in bed until 8:00 or even 9:00 and then let the day unfold.

Paul had a great reunion with his old school friend Alejandro, who now attends a different school which is close to his home, about 45 minutes away from here...

...and Ben started to build the trebuchet that he got for Christmas. Paul is eager to see it in action, but is also enjoying helping Daddy with the actual building.

As for me, I spent some time exploring the wonders of all the new technology we got for Christmas, meaning that I put in a fair amount of screen time! But today I plan to do some cleaning, which always feels good once it's done.
