Right Around the Corner

Ben and I drove down to south Boulder to hike the Homestead Trail yesterday after a wonderfully cool night, the type where you don't need to run the fans and actually close the balcony doors because  it's so chilly.   I guess that coolness has triggered the plants into thinking that autumn is on the way, and the sumac has already started its' slow turn from green to scarlet red.

We got out to hike late and it was hot by the time we were on the trail, but the surprise of seeing all this red among the green was a sign that fall is just around the corner.
