This was the view that rewarded us when at the end of our hike the other morning. Can you see the white peaks back on the right? Here's a closer view.
Those are the Indian Peaks, snow covered since there's been plenty of snow in the mountains this year. So beautiful.
And on this hike we had an extra dose of beauty; the pines were covered with a lovely icy frost. It was unexpected since we didn't have much frost in our yard and the this hike isn't very far up the canyon. But as we started up the trail we were in awe of this different world of white and frost. It was a very cold morning --about 20 degrees as we started out-- and we don't usually hike so early on cold mornings. Who knew what we were missing?
A snow storm is predicted for tomorrow, with three to six inches falling throughout the day and evening. I've cancelled the one thing I had planned, have some quilting on tap, and food in the fridge for a cozy dinner. I'm all ready to cocoon!
