Getting to the bottom of the matter
The kitchen crew was hard at work today stripping off the old wood floor and deciding how best to prepare a level underlayment for the new floor. When I came home for lunch, there was a hole in the kitchen floor and I could see down into the cellar below. Not something you see every day of the week! The dirt walls are a dead give-away that the foundation was built a long time ago. We're in "This Old House" world here. As usual, Fetcher decided that whatever we were doing had to be for his benefit and he roamed between the two floors checking it all out. By the time I came home after work, a sub flooring was down and the hole closed up. But I had glimpsed the underpinnings of the house in a way I never had before.
